Well the Muscovies are at it again - we have LOTS of babies. If anyone is interested in have a cute little duckling, then you need to come see us.

What a week

Well it has been one heck of a week so far

Where to start... Well, We have placed a few dogs and have some in for advance training.

The buffalo now has a bum leg, the bull horned Ashley's horse because he wanted in the feed trough too. Pokey, the horse, is doing fine. That was Friday night, the vet was out of town, so husband and I stapled her up, took 10 staples. We took her to the vet on Monday morning and he said everything looks good and to take staples out in two weeks.

Then the water pipe busted and hubby had to dig it up and replace it -- took almost 2 days, but we now have water.

Then we were suppose to receive 250 quail chicks today, but no show for them, so hopefully tomorrow and no fatalities.

We did get to the Malvern Library on Monday and the program was a success.

You will be taught how to extinguish bad behavior starting the first day and will develop a habit foryou and the dog of desirable behavior which leads to a harmonious relationship.
It is our objective to set owners up to succeed with our dog training. The majority of people thatuse our services are from referrals by other clients.———————————————————————————————–Sessions are fully self-paced to fit your schedule. We would rather you take extra time if needed tosuccessfully master each weeks objectives. For example, you cannot teach your dog the sit stay inweek three, if you did not have time to teach them to sit in week two. You are required to work withthe dog 25 – 30 minutes per day. We teach handling techniques to the owner, which are also writtendown for future reference.
By working with your dog through each of the exercises, the dog gains a great deal of respect foryou.
Each week you will receive a written step-by-step guide as a reference for practicing during theweek.
By completing the training course, you have gained a knowledge and art of techniques ofsuccessfully training a dog. Properly training your dog, is a major step in becoming a responsiblepet owner, which is always appreciated in the community. An uncontrollable dog can be verydangerous and is quite rude especially to those of us with trained dogs.
We start dogs as young as 2 months of age. It is much easier to train a dog when its mind is blank.The puppy will then come into the world only knowing how to be good and obedience is just the wayof life.

The Little Rock Backyard Poultry Meetup Group is for people who have small backyard flocks of chickens for pets, eggs, and meat.

You just might be suprised at how many people living in your neighborhood have pet chickens!

It's cold out

Well it is currently snowing outside at the moment. :(

We have been super busy here on the farm. We picked up a ewe and her 2 lambs at the auction and then we got a couple of goats and pigs donated to us.

We also have a newborn goat - not sure at the moment if the poor little guy will make it or not. He isn't wanting to eat.

What's new in 2009

Well, we have started out the year being really busy. We are really pushing to have the farm open to field trips by this spring :)

We have added another cow, Daisy. We did some swapping to get her. She is half Holstein and half Brahma. Then there are the 2 Flemish bunnies that the kids lost interest in, so they have come to live with us. We have also added 6 parakeets and 2 cocktiels to our bird room, their owner - just didn't have time for them anymore. We will also be adding 2 wethers soon - their owner has had to move to town.

We are still looking for fencing or at least donations to purchase the fencing with. Help us keep this wonderful program alive.

Winter time

Well winter is finally among us. Yuck!!

We just wanted to give an update of what is going on at CRF.
After the first of the year we will be adding a Buffalo calf and a Watusi Bull. We also have chicks and ducklings available for sale.

Well, we are currently hatching out duck eggs, sexlink, mix standard, and quail eggs.

We also received a generous donation of a wide variety of birds. We are going Sunday to pickup. Stay tuned for an update.

We are working on getting our flock certified with NPIP and getting are gamebird license.

We will keep you posted. We now also have Standard Bronze Turkeys and will have some available in the spring.

What's New

We are staying busy on the CRF with new projects and trying to keep everyone well.

First off, we have been working on our new poultry breeder pens. We have also gotten a new incubator that will hold about 300 eggs. :) Now we can do some serious hatching.

CRF is working hard on getting the farm set up so that we can have farm visits and field trips. We will also be starting a program for classrooms to adopt a small pet for a week. This allows a classroom to keep a chicken, duckling, rabbit, etc in their classroom for a week and we provide curriculum, food, cage, info on care, etc.

Since Amanda was a preschool teacher for years, she has now decided to offer theme units and resources for others. Including bullention board ideas, crafts, trips, games, etc. To make it easier on you to setup and prepare your lesson plans.

Just wanted to say Hello to all. We were using another blogger site, but couldn't get it to work right half the time, so here we are again. Maybe we can get this one to work. :)

We had an awesome day!! Got alot accomplished even with two extra kids. I have been working on the storage room and fixing it up so that we can put the sewing machine in there. We are also going to put the incubator and brooder boxes in there - at least for the winter.

I even managed to transplant some cactus plants today.

Then to put the icing on the cake - Micah built a fire and we roasted marshmallows. :) He is such a sweetheart - Ashley was thrilled.
